We won the championship with Ozan Özlem and the second place with Mutlu Erçevik in the Northern Cyprus Granfondo race held on Sunday, November 26, and crowned the last race of the 2023 season with podium success!
The race, which was run on a 90-kilometer course, caused very difficult moments for the cyclists due to the wind speed reaching 45 km/h from time to time, and caused divisions in the peloton in the first kilometers of the race due to the effect of the wind. Our riders, who were in the leading group of 12 riders after completing the first climbing section, managed to stay ahead in the following kilometers and continued their fight for first place until the last meters. In the last sprint, Ozan Özlem, one of our riders in the leading group of 6 people, came first in the 40+ category by a wide margin and ranked 6th in the general classification. The fact that there were 3 riders in the same category as our rider Mutlu Erçevik in the leading group, created great competition in both the general classification and the 50+ category competition. Mutlu Erçevik took 4th place in the general classification in the final sprint and came 2nd in his category.
Emre Kaplan, one of the junior Turkish national team rider, took the first place in the General Classification, while Hamed Pashban Khajeh, one of the former riders of our team, took the second place and Tacam Gökbörü took the third place.
